A Passion For Challenge

A true PvX type of player, I vastly prefer feeling challenged over just going up against easy content. Getting that clear wouldn’t matter as much, now would it, if things were simple? Click on each of the game images below if you want to see some of the shenanigans I get up to in them. Because with MMOs…the content isn’t the only type of fun you can get up to.

If I’m not writing, reading, or knitting, I’m probably spending time on one of the games below. I would hesitate to say I’m addicted since I am able to keep things in order outside of the game and still have a ‘life’ outside of them. But I do certainly spend a number of hours on each of these titles every week:

  • Final Fantasy XIV: With the latest expansion, I’ve finally crossed the barrier into the high-end raids. Having a static, or a core group of people to conquer the hardest content in the game, has been an incredible experience. That being said, the bulk of my time in game isn’t really spent doing content but interacting with the very vibrant roleplaying community. As the world became smaller and more isolated by the pandemic, that community blew up pretty much. From lalas cosplaying as an eggplant emoji to those who have a world of lore built for their character, roleplaying within Final Fantasy can help you form some lasting friendships with some amazing writers.
  • Elder Scrolls Online: Like the game above, roleplaying eats into my actual time spent doing content. I do feel that it’s a little harder to find here though or has a much higher point of entry than the previous entry. One of my favorite things about this game is that you literally can go anywhere from the very start. There is nothing gated behind story, only level. And it is almost ridiculously easy to hit the needed level after just a few hours of gameplay.
  • League of Legends: I used to play ranked, but it’s been a long, long time since those days. Mostly spending my time on the game spamming ARAMs now, so if that’s your cup of tea, please reach out if you’d ever like to play sometime! TFT has never been my thing really, but I am so excited about the prospect of the planned MMO coming out.
