Writing Tool: Campfire Writing

Near my perfect writing program, I stumbled across Campfire Writing recently and don’t think I’m going to look anywhere else for my drafting and editing stages from here on out. After looking at a screen during work hours, a dark mode is a must for me while I’m working on my own writing or even reading if possible. Because I also try to grab a few minutes or hours any time I can, I’m not able to just work on the same device or devices all the time.

So to find an online writing program that has so many capabilities, so many customization options, and actually works on chromebooks…I was incredibly happy. The main interface is controlled through the use of panels, and I’ve included a few screenshots of mine below. You can resize, add, or remove elements as you see fit. And if you use the tagging system while you are writing, you could hover over something and see all the information you’ve collected on it immediately.

As stated before, the entire program is also free. Nothing is behind a paywall. Not the ability to change text, fonts, colors on everything but the top bar (just a base light or dark mode toggle for that). Every single element is available to you without any charge. Where monetization comes in is the limit you can have of each type of element. What do I mean by element? Take a look at the picture below:

Every one of the lines along the left panel is an element as classified by Campfire Writing.
